The United States Department of Agriculture announced on October 26, 2015 that Valley Storage won a $50,000 REAP grant for our Robinwood North facility. This USDA REAP grant is awarded for solar energy solutions for rural small businesses. The Robinwood North facility solar project has been completed and is fully operational. The solar initiative covers a significant portion of the facility’s energy needs.
The Robinwood North solar project is our third system, which makes us the largest locally owned investor in solar in Washington County, Maryland. Combined, Valley Storage has 1077 solar panels and generates over 270 KW worth of power each year with our three systems.
About the grant: USDA is providing $102 million in loan guarantees and $71 million in grants for 1,114 projects financed through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). The USDA REAP grant is only for rural small businesses. Here’s the list of all other businesses who were awarded the grant.
