Medina was founded in 1818 and originally was named after Mecca, the birthplace of the prophet Mohammed. This town started small with only 600 villagers, but grew rapidly after the railroad came through town. This was the hub of all things agriculture. Today, the downtown scene is thriving with creative businesses and educational opportunities. We think Medina is the happening place to be.

If you are visiting for a day or staying for several, there is something to do everywhere you go. Check out the Medina Toy & Train Museum, where you can see the transitions the model train went through,  or Castle Noel, a local holiday extravaganza of Hollywood movies. There are plenty of activities the family will love.  From Alien Vacation mini golf in the summer to Medina Skating Ring in the winter it won’t matter what time of year you stop by there is always something to do!

You definitely don’t want to miss out on the summer festival, Rally in the Alley.  This is not only a fun event for community members but we are also giving back to local charities. Come down to the outdoor concert every Friday. Starting Memorial Day weekend till Labor day weekend you will see the city come to life. If you are looking for something to calm you down, check out the tasteful festival, For the Love of Chocolate. This annual event is for everyone. You can sample chocolate, learn how to make chocolate and more!
